Osho: Most Original Thinker of India – Advani

News Release
New Delhi, 13 August, 2001

‘India My Love’ is a feeling that should extend throughout one’s life instead of just one week, said Shri l. K. Advani, the Union Home Minister while launching ‘India My Love’ Week at Osho World Galleria today.

To enable Indians and the world to appreciate the eternal India, Osho’s insights contained in his discourses and books should be made widely available around the world and through all media. This will also make the world understand India much better, he added.

Appreciating Osho’s original deep of understanding and beauty of expression, Shri Advani said what Osho has said in his book – India My Love – is that India is not limited by geography or history but goes far beyond to the search for truth. If there is any unique aspect about India, it is the search for truth – not just collecting knowledge about truth but searching and experiencing the truth. This is what Osho emphasizes.

Shri Advani recalled that the first discourses by Osho he heard were entitled ‘Beware of Socialism’ when socialism was the vogue but Osho dared to criticize in no uncertain terms and warned that India would suffer greatly because of this system. “I was surprised and very impressed by Osho’s logic and how well he proved his points,” said Shri Advani.

“When I was imprisoned during the Emergency for 19 months, I had the opportunity of reading Osho’s books on Mahavir, Kabir and the Geeta. I concluded that Osho is perhaps the most original thinker of India.”

Shri Vinod Khanna M. P. and an Osho disciple a.k.a. Swami Vinod Bharti presented Shri Advani with an example of home textiles hand-embroidered by residents of Gandhidham Relief Camp established in Gujarat following the earthquake devastation. One of the women’s groups has produced these hand-embroidered textiles in various designs and specifications that are displayed and available at Osho World Galleria also launched by Shri Advani on this occasion. Osho World Foundation has been involved in actively supporting this relief camp and the latest venture will also assist them.
